Pensacola Beach Pier

The Pensacola Beach Pier is a must-visit! For a small fee, you get to see great sunrises and sunsets, fascinating marine life, and the best beach view around! This Pier is the longest on the Gulf Coast. The folks who operate the pier are friendly and helpful. Visit their website at www.fishpensacolabeachpier.com - one of the most delightful websites I've ever visited!! (Have your speakers on!)

Where to Eat at Pensacola Beach

The best place to eat at Pensacola Beach? It is much too difficult to pick just one! So many good restaurants and so little time...
I think my all-around favorite is Flounders Chowder House. Excellent food, friendly service, lots of seating - minimizing your wait time - but the best part about Flounders is the atmosphere! Whether you're young and on spring break, or a family vacationing with the children, Flounders is a perfect fit. It sits on the sound side of the island, on Quietwater Beach, so it's the perfect place to take in the sunset. There's volleyball on the beach, a playground in the sand for the kids, lots of outdoor and indoor seating, live music on weekends (check their website!) and a dancefloor, a great gift shop, and a delicious menu... all with a great laid-back Bob Marley/Jimmy Buffet vibe. It is also home to the original Pensacola Beach sign, which pointed beach-goers toward Pensacola Beach from Gulf Breeze until 2004, when it was damaged by Hurricane Ivan. And the menu is entertainment in itself! Don't be in such a hurry to order that you miss the comic captions. A word of warning - you better have two or three buddies to help you with the Key Lime Pie. It is heavenly.... and it is big. The menu offers an array of fresh, local seafood, plus chicken and beef for the landlubbers among you, at very moderate prices - something the budget-conscious family can afford. You can order a seafood platter for under $20, or go with the grilled chicken for around $15, or splurge and have the lobster at market value (usually over $25). When I visit Pensacola Beach, Flounders is the one restaurant I can't miss.
